About the Department
Department of physiology of Govt. (Autonomous) Ayurveda College & Hospital, Rewa, MP, conducts teaching and practical classes for the physiology subject. In the laboratory of the department necessary instruments & facilities are available for various practical works related to physiology.

- Blood tests – hemoglobin test, blood group test, determination of number of different blood cells- RBC, WBC, platelets, PCV, ESR, Bleeding time, clotting time, preparation of blood smear, identification of different types of WBC, collection of blood sample etc.
- Urine examination - physical examination of urine, chemical examination of urine, test for presence of sugars, protein, phosphate, ketone bodies, bile salt, bile pigments in urine, specific gravity of urine etc.
- Blood pressure measurement, measurement of pulse rate & respiratory rate, identification of heart sound & breath sounds, ECG, Body mass Index. Measurement spirometry, examination of sensory & motor nervous system.
- Vision tests & hearing tests.
- Ayurved practicals - assessment of prakriti, assessment of dosha dhatu kshaya- Vriddhi, assessment of Agni, assessment of koshtha, assessment for saar, nadi pariksha, mutra taila bindu parkisha etc.
Different instruments available in department:
- Microscope, hemoglobin meter, sphygmomanometer, thermometer, pyrometer, hydrometer, monometer, viscometer, glucose meter, stop watch, clinical hammer, tuning fork, peak flow meter, weighing machine, laryngoscope, centrifuge machine, Ishihara chart, Newton's color wheel, refrigerator, stethoscope, electrocardiograph, ESR tube, RBC- WBC pipette.
- Different chart and models for teaching purpose and necessary chemical reagents for various practicals are also available.
- Besides this, the department also conducts different theory & practical classes of physiology for paramedical courses conducted by the college.
Vision: To elucidate the physiological concepts of Ayurveda, establishing their relevance in maintaining optimal human health and homeostasis.
Mission: To provide fundamental knowledge of human physiology (Dosha, Dhatu, Mala) through classical texts and correlate it with modern biological mechanisms.
