Department of Sharir Rachna

About the Department

The Department of Rachana Sharir at Government Ayurveda College, Rewa (M.P), is a foundational unit in the Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS) curriculum. It focuses on imparting comprehensive knowledge of human anatomy, integrating both traditional Ayurvedic perspectives and modern scientific understanding.

Overview

Rachana Sharir, or Human Anatomy, is a core subject in the first year of the BAMS program. The department emphasizes the study of body structures as described in classical Ayurvedic texts, such as the Sushruta Samhita and Charaka Samhita, alongside modern anatomical concepts. Key areas of study include embryology (Garbha Sharir), histology, osteology, organology, and the understanding of vital points (Marma) and channels (Srotas).

Infrastructure:

  • Faculty Room/Chamber – 02

  • Dissection Hall – 01

  • Anatomy Museum – 01

  • Departmental Library – 01

Dissection Hall: Equipped for cadaveric dissection, providing students with hands-on experience in understanding human anatomy.

Educational Approach

The teaching methodology combines lectures, demonstrations, and practical dissections. Students engage in systematic cadaveric dissections, enhancing their comprehension of anatomical structures. This approach ensures that students develop a strong foundation in anatomy, which is essential for clinical practice in Ayurveda.

Vision: To provide the most profound understanding of human anatomy by harmonizing the structural concepts of Ayurveda with modern anatomical sciences.

Mission: To facilitate in-depth knowledge of the human body structure (Rachana) through cadaveric dissection (Mrita Samshodhana) and modern anatomical tools, establishing a firm base for clinical and surgical practice.
